How to Forward Emails in iCloud Mail (and Automatically)
Forward one iCloud email, or send all your iCloud Mail to another address automatically — with or without keeping a copy.
iCloud Mail can forward one email at a time, or forward everything that arrives to another address. Automatic forwarding is set up on iCloud.com.
Forward one email
- Go to icloud.com/mail and select the email.
- On a phone or tablet, tap the More button first.
- Choose Forward, add recipients in the To field, and select Send.
On a computer you can also hover over an email in the list, click the Quick Action Menu button and choose Forward.
Attachments: to include the original attachments when you reply or forward, go to Settings › Composing and select Include original attachments in reply.
Reply or Reply All instead?
- Reply answers only the sender.
- Reply All answers the sender and everyone the email was sent to.
- Forward sends the email to new people you add.
Replying to a very long conversation — 100 emails — starts a new thread with the same subject.
Forward all new email automatically
- On icloud.com/mail, click the Settings button at the top of the Mailboxes list, then choose Settings.
- Select Mail Forwarding in the sidebar.
- Tick Forward my email to and enter the address.
- Optional: tick Delete messages after forwarding if you don’t want iCloud to keep a copy.
Two things to know:
- Copies use iCloud storage. Keeping a copy of every forwarded email counts against your storage — and when iCloud storage is full, you stop receiving email. See iCloud storage full.
- Custom domains are included. If you use your own domain with iCloud Mail, email to those addresses is forwarded too.
Keep a copy or not? Keep copies if you might switch back to iCloud Mail or want a backup. Choose Delete messages after forwarding if you’ve moved to another inbox for good and want to save iCloud storage.
Forward only some emails
Create a rule instead. Each rule can forward to one address, so use one rule per destination.
Turn automatic forwarding off
Go to Settings › Mail Forwarding on iCloud.com and untick Forward my email to.
Away for a while?
An automatic reply still works when your iCloud Mail is forwarded. Check forwarding now and then: a forwarding address you don’t recognise could mean someone else has access — see iCloud Mail security.
