Fastmail Login: How to Log In to Fastmail
Log in to Fastmail at app.fastmail.com with the address you signed up with, use two-step verification and passkeys, and fix locked accounts, forgotten usernames and app sign-in errors.
You log in to Fastmail with your username — the email address you chose when you created the account. Other addresses on the account (aliases, Masked Email addresses or a custom domain) receive mail, but you can't log in with them.
Log in on the web
- Go to app.fastmail.com/login.
- Enter your username (your original Fastmail address) in Username and your password in Password, or sign in with a passkey using the PIN, fingerprint or face unlock set on your device.
- If two-step verification is on, enter the current code from your authenticator app, or insert your security key and touch it. If you have more than one method, select Verify another way to switch.
On a computer you use regularly, you can mark it as trusted so it won't ask for a two-step code again. You can revoke that trust later under Settings › Privacy & Security; the next login from that device asks for two-step verification again.
You can be logged in as more than one Fastmail user at a time. To log out, select your avatar in the top-right corner, then Log out — always do this on a shared computer.
Log in on your phone or in another email app
- Fastmail app (App Store and Google Play): sign in with your normal username and password, and two-step verification works as on the web.
- Any other app — Apple Mail, Outlook, Thunderbird, a phone's built-in mail app — needs its own app password. If you type your normal password there, you'll get an “incorrect password” error. You enter an app password only once, so there's no need to memorise it. See Fastmail security for how to create one, and Fastmail server settings for the servers.
- Basic plan: third-party apps aren't supported, so use the web or the Fastmail app.
When you can't log in
- Forgotten username: open the account recovery tool at app.fastmail.com/recover, choose Start recovery › I don't know my username, and have it sent to your recovery email or phone.
- Forgotten password or lost two-step device: use the same recovery tool — see resetting your Fastmail password. Run it on the computer, phone or browser you normally use: resets from an unrecognised device, browser or location wait 24 hours.
- Account locked: Fastmail locks an account when its login details may have been stolen — often through phishing or keylogging malware — and it's being used to send spam. You'll see a message when you log in. Unlock it with the recovery tool, then check your devices for malware and turn on two-step verification, or it may be taken over again.
- Subscription overdue: sending and receiving are disabled first, then access is suspended. You can still log in at app.fastmail.com/login to pay and reactivate for a limited time. After that the whole account is deleted, Fastmail can't recover any of the data, and you'd have to sign up again.
- “The page cannot be displayed”: check Fastmail's status page at fastmailstatus.com. If it shows no problems, the fault may be in your internet provider's network rather than Fastmail's.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
What is the Fastmail login page?
app.fastmail.com/login. Log in with the email address you chose when you signed up.
Can I log in to Fastmail with my custom domain address?
No. Only your username — the address you signed up with — works as a login. Other addresses receive mail but aren't login names.
Why does Apple Mail or Outlook say my Fastmail password is incorrect?
Third-party apps need an app password; your normal password gives an “incorrect password” error. Create one under Settings › Privacy & Security.
I forgot my Fastmail username. What do I do?
Use the recovery tool at app.fastmail.com/recover and choose I don't know my username to have it sent to your recovery email or phone.
Why was my Fastmail account locked?
Fastmail locks accounts whose login details may have been stolen and that are being used to send spam. Unlock it with the recovery tool, then check your devices for malware.
