Optimum Email Login: How to Sign In (and the New Verification Code)

Sign in to Optimum or Suddenlink email with your Optimum ID — including the verification-code step added in October 2026.

Optimum email is part of your Optimum ID — the same sign-in you use for your Optimum account. Optimum stopped creating new email accounts on May 4, 2021, but existing @optimum.net and @suddenlink.net addresses keep working.

Check your email on the web

  1. Go to optimum.net and sign in with your Optimum ID and password.
  2. Under Internet, click Email.

The new verification code (from October 6, 2026)

Starting October 6, 2026, Optimum added multi-factor authentication to sign-in:

  • After your Optimum ID and password, you verify with a code sent by text to your mobile phone, or a phone call.
  • The first time, you’re guided through a quick setup. After that you’ll need a code every time you sign in.
  • You can optionally set up a passkey (Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint or device PIN) for faster sign-ins. Skip it and Optimum asks again in 30 days.
  • Have more than one Optimum ID? Each one needs its own MFA setup.
  • No code arriving? Check the phone number on your account, or use Update your number if you’ve lost access to it.

Optimum says it will never ask you for your password or verification code through someone who contacts you. If anyone does, don’t share it.

Email not arriving?

  • Mailbox full: there’s a 5 GB limit, and Inbox, Sent, your folders, Deleted and Junk all count. Check the storage display in the bottom-left corner of webmail, and empty Deleted and Junk.
  • Forwarding or filters: in your Optimum email, select Settings › Mail, then Mail forwarding and Mail filter — turn off forwarding you don’t want and delete stray filters.
  • A phone or Outlook using POP3 may be downloading your mail away from the server — switch it to IMAP (Optimum email settings).

Set a vacation reply

In your Optimum email, select Settings › Mail › Vacation message, choose a reply option (every time, every time with the original message, or once per sender), write your message and Save. Optimum notes you turn it on the day you want it to start and off when you’re back — choose Do not activate vacation message and Save.

Watch out for fake “Optimum email support” numbers

Pages that look like Optimum help and push a phone number are a common trap for Optimum email users. Use Optimum’s own help at optimum.net/support. Never give your password or a verification code to someone who contacted you, and never let them control your computer. More in the email security hub. Moving between providers?
