How to Create a Free mail.com Email Account
Create a free mail.com address on one of its many domains, with 65 GB of storage — and know what the free account doesn’t include.
mail.com’s main attraction is choice: instead of one domain, you pick your address from a long list — mail.com advertises more than 100 domains, from general ones to addresses for professions, interests and places. A free account comes with 65 GB of email storage.
Create a free account
- Go to www.mail.com and select the free sign-up option.
- Fill in the required details.
- Choose your address: type the name you want and pick a domain from the list.
- Create a password of at least eight characters, using upper- and lowercase letters, numbers and special characters.
- Enter a mobile number or another email address for password recovery.
- Follow the instructions in the Captcha box.
- Click Accept.
Choosing your address
Because every address uses one of mail.com’s domains, the domain is part of what people remember. A general domain is easiest to spell out loud; a profession- or interest-themed one can make a good second address for sign-ups. The domain is also part of your login, so write down the full address — you’ll need all of it to sign in, recover your password and set up any app.
Don’t skip the recovery contact
The mobile number or email address you add is how you’ll recover a forgotten password. mail.com says that without saved contact information — or if it’s out of date — it can’t reset your password immediately, and you’ll have to go through customer support. Security questions aren’t a fallback: mail.com phased them out at the end of 2023.

mail.com describes POP, IMAP and SMTP as Premium features only. If you want your address in another email program, you’ll need Premium — the mail.com server settings explain how to switch access on.
