How to Reset Your Zoho Mail Password
Reset a forgotten Zoho Mail password at accounts.zoho.com/password with your recovery email, mobile, OneAuth or domain — and what to do if you can't verify or your account belongs to an organisation.
Your Zoho Mail password is your Zoho account password. To reset it you need one of the recovery options on the account — a recovery email address, a recovery mobile number, a OneAuth recovery device, or (for administrators) a domain you own. Work accounts are different: if your organisation manages your mailbox, your administrator can reset it for you.
Reset a forgotten password
- Go to accounts.zoho.com/password, or select Forgot Password on the sign-in page.
- Enter your email address or mobile number and select Next.
- Complete the CAPTCHA and select Next, then Continue to reset password.
- Verify it's you with one of your recovery options:
- Email or mobile code: select Send OTP, then enter the code and select Verify.
- OneAuth: select Verify using device and approve the request in the app.
- Domain (administrators): select View all options › Verify via domain and prove ownership with a TXT or CNAME record or an uploaded HTML file.
- If multi-factor authentication is on, complete that step too.
- Enter and confirm the new password, then select Change Password.
- Choose whether to sign out other sessions — do this if you think someone else had access — then sign in with the new password.
Zoho requires at least 8 characters and rejects passwords that contain parts of your name or email address, or that have appeared in known data breaches.
If you can't verify
- Don't recognise the email or number shown? Zoho shows them partly hidden; make sure what you type matches. If you've lost access to one, use another recovery option.
- No code arrives: check your spam folder, wait a few minutes, and resend after 30 seconds. Only the newest code works — or use the RESET PASSWORD link in the code email.
- OneAuth isn't offered: if OneAuth is your multi-factor method, it can't also be used for recovery. Use email or mobile instead.
- Domain check fails: confirm the record value and use a 1-hour TTL, then wait for DNS to update. If your registrar and DNS host are different companies, add the record where your nameservers point.
- Nothing works: contact
support@zohoaccounts.com.
Work and school (organisation) accounts
If your mailbox belongs to an organisation, you may not be able to reset the password yourself. Ask your Zoho administrator — they can reset it from the admin tools (Zoho Directory, Zoho One or the Zoho Mail Admin Console).
After resetting
- Email apps: update the password in any app that signs in with your main Zoho password. If you think someone else had access, also create fresh app passwords for your email apps — see Zoho Mail security.
- Check your recovery details while you're signed in, so the next reset is quicker.
