Most Zoho Mail problems fall into four groups: mail for your domain isn't reaching Zoho, the account has been blocked, particular messages are being filtered, or an email app can't connect. Find the symptom below that matches yours.

You can send, but nothing arrives

For an account on your own domain, this is almost always the domain's MX records. Mail for your domain only reaches Zoho if they point there. For US-hosted accounts the values are:

HostValuePriority
@mx.zoho.com10
@mx2.zoho.com20
@mx3.zoho.com50
  • Accounts in other regions use different values — the Admin Console's Tools & Configurations section shows yours.
  • Delete any other MX records. An old one with a lower number (0 or 5, say) takes priority and sends mail somewhere else.
  • DNS changes can take 12–24 hours, depending on the record's TTL. Then send a test from an outside account.

Not sure what your domain's MX records say? Enter the domain in the Email Settings Finder or the SPF, DKIM & DMARC Checker, which both show who receives its mail.

You can't send or receive at all

  • Domain needs reverifying: in the Mail Admin Console, check the domain's status. If it says Yet to reverify your ownership, complete the verification again.
  • Storage is full: an account over its storage limit is blocked. Delete mail you don't need, or upgrade or buy more storage — then the administrator unblocks the account from the user's settings.

Some messages are missing

  • Search everywhere: use All messages or search, then check which folder the message landed in.
  • Newsletter or Notification folder: Zoho's Smart filters sort some mail there. Turn off Smart filter categorisation if you'd rather keep it in the inbox.
  • Your own filters: review your incoming filters and change any that move or delete messages unexpectedly.

Mail from your website or contact form doesn't arrive

  • It's rejected as spoofing: if the website sends as your domain, add its sending server to your domain's SPF record and set up DKIM on that server. Check the result with the SPF Record Checker.
  • Your web host keeps it locally: many hosting panels deliver mail for your domain to a mailbox on the web server. In the host's email settings, choose the Remote Email Server option and turn off local delivery.

Outlook, Apple Mail or your phone won't connect

  • Turn on IMAP access: in Zoho Mail, Settings › Mail Accounts, select your address and tick IMAP Access. Newly created Free-plan accounts don't have IMAP or POP.
  • Use the right servers: personal and free organisation accounts use imap.zoho.com and smtp.zoho.com; paid organisation accounts on a custom domain use imappro.zoho.com and smtppro.zoho.com. Accounts hosted outside the US use their region's servers — your account settings list the exact ones. Full details: Zoho Mail server settings.
  • Use an app password if multi-factor authentication is on — see Zoho Mail security.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Why am I not receiving emails in Zoho Mail?

For a custom domain, the MX records usually aren't pointing to Zoho (or an old MX record has a lower priority). Other causes are an unverified domain or a full mailbox.

What are Zoho Mail's MX records?

For US-hosted accounts: mx.zoho.com (priority 10), mx2.zoho.com (20) and mx3.zoho.com (50). Other regions use different values shown in the Admin Console.

Why can't Outlook connect to Zoho Mail?

IMAP access may be off or unavailable on a new free plan, the server names may be wrong for your plan or region, or you need an app password because multi-factor authentication is on.

Why don't emails from my website reach Zoho?

They may be rejected as spoofing, or your web host may be delivering them locally. Add the website's server to SPF, set up DKIM, and choose the Remote Email Server option at your host.
