CenturyLink Email Login: How to Sign In
Sign in to CenturyLink, CenturyTel and Embarq email, stay signed in safely, and avoid having an unused account deactivated.
CenturyLink email includes addresses ending in centurylink.net, centurytel.net, embarqmail.com, qwest.net, clds.net, coastalnow.net, cochill.net, cswnet.com, elpasotel.net, emadisonriver.com, emadisonriver.net, gallatinriver.net, grics.net, gulftel.com, madisonriver.biz and mebtel.net. You sign in to webmail from the CenturyLink.net sign-in page with your full email address and password.
Stay signed in — or sign out
- Stay signed in: tick Stay signed in the next time you sign in. CenturyLink’s advice: don’t tick it on a public or shared device.
- Sign out: click Sign out on your email homepage. You’ll need to sign in again next time.
Add a recovery method now
If your account has no recovery phone number or extra email address, CenturyLink shows a pop-up asking you to add one when you sign in. Do it — it’s how you reset a forgotten password yourself. Without one, you have to go through CenturyLink’s email support team and prove who you are with your CenturyLink account number.
Sign in at least once a year
CenturyLink deactivates unused accounts. If you don’t sign in for more than a year, the account is deactivated and all its contents are deleted.
Where’s my Trash? The 2022 changes
Since CenturyLink moved email to a new service in October 2022:
- The trash or junk folder is now called Spam, and it only appears when there’s something in it.
- Spam filtering is at the highest level by default, so real email can occasionally land in Spam. Open it and select This is not Spam.
- To report spam that got through, tick the box beside it and choose Spam, or open it and click the shield icon at the top right.
Using Outlook or a phone app?
If you set up CenturyLink email in an app before October 2022, you may need to update the server settings. See CenturyLink email settings. Missing folders in Outlook afterwards haven’t been deleted — you may need to resubscribe to or re-sync them.
Can’t sign in?
Use Forgot Password on the sign-in page — see recovering your CenturyLink email. If you see “your compose and send feature has been disabled”, CenturyLink has locked the account after suspicious activity, most often someone sending mass spam from it.
CenturyLink never asks for personal information by email. An email saying your account is locked and asking for your password is phishing.
Watch out for fake “CenturyLink email support” numbers
Pages that look like CenturyLink help and push a phone number are a common trap for CenturyLink email users. Use CenturyLink’s own help at centurylink.com/home/help. Never give your password or a verification code to someone who contacted you, and never let them control your computer. More in the email security hub. Moving between providers?
