Cox Email Login: Sign In to cox.net on Yahoo Mail

cox.net email now runs on Yahoo Mail. Here’s where to sign in, what changed, and who to ask for help.

Cox has completed its move to Yahoo Mail — Cox says the transition finished in early 2025. You still use your @cox.net address, and Cox says your messages, folders, calendar events and contacts stayed intact. What changed is where you sign in and who supports it: Yahoo now manages all cox.net email support. Your other Cox services aren’t affected.

Sign in on the web

  1. Go to mail.yahoo.com.
  2. Sign in with your full email address, including @cox.net, and the new password you created during the move.

Sign in on your phone

  • Yahoo Mail app: install it from your device’s app store and sign in with your full @cox.net address and your password.
  • Built-in Mail app (iPhone, Android and others): Cox points to Yahoo’s device guides for linking your Yahoo @cox.net email.
  • Outlook, Apple Mail on Mac or another email program: these need a Yahoo app password and Yahoo’s server settings — see Cox email settings.

Using cox.net on several devices? Cox says you’ll need to update the settings on each device — but you don’t have to complete the Yahoo Mail setup again.

Can’t sign in?

  • Use the full address with @cox.net, not just your name.
  • Forgotten password: since the move, recovery is Yahoo’s — see resetting your cox.net password.
  • An app suddenly fails: your normal password won’t work in email programs any more — they need an app password.

Leaving Cox?

Cox says that once you’ve completed the move and accepted Yahoo’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, your cox.net address is supported by Yahoo and stays accessible even if you stop using Cox services. Cox hasn’t offered new Cox email accounts since August 15, 2019.

Who helps now

For help after the move, Cox sends you to help.yahoo.com, and notes that Yahoo may charge for email support on some issues beyond sign-in help. Cox’s website now also carries “Cox is now Spectrum” branding — but cox.net email itself is on Yahoo. Yahoo’s features apply to your mailbox too: see Yahoo Mail filters and blocking senders.

Watch out for fake “Cox email support” numbers

Pages that look like Cox help and push a phone number are a common trap for Cox email users. Use Cox’s own help at cox.com/residential/support or help.yahoo.com. Never give your password or a verification code to someone who contacted you, and never let them control your computer. More in the email security hub. Moving between providers?
