How to Log In to Yandex Mail

Sign in to Yandex Mail with your Yandex ID, use a Yandex Key code or QR code, sign out of every device at once, and fix the usual login problems.

Yandex Mail doesn't have a separate mail password: you sign in with your Yandex ID, the same account used across Yandex services. That means the username, password and security settings you change in Yandex ID apply to your mailbox too. Don't have one yet? See creating a Yandex Mail account.

Log in on the web

  1. Type mail.yandex.com into your browser's address bar.
  2. Enter your Yandex username and password.
  3. Press Log in.

If you've turned on two-factor authentication, you also need a one-time password from the Yandex Key app. You can also skip typing altogether and log in with a QR code — that needs either the Yandex app or the Yandex Key app on your phone (Yandex ID help now calls it the Yandex ID (Key) app).

Signing in from a new location, a new device or through a VPN can trigger an extra check: Yandex may ask for a code sent by text message or the answer to your security question. That's normal, and it's one reason to keep a phone number on the account.

Log out — on this device or everywhere

  • This browser: open the account menu in the top-right corner and click Log out of Yandex services.
  • Every device: if you forgot to sign out on someone else's computer, open Yandex ID at passport.yandex.com, go to Logins and devices and click Log out on all devices. You'll then have to enter your username and password again on each of your own devices.

If you can't log in

  • Forgotten password: start the recovery procedure at passport.yandex.com/restoration — the steps are in resetting your Yandex password.
  • Mailbox not used for a long time: Yandex may freeze a mailbox that hasn't been used for more than 24 months. Logging in and clicking Yes, unfreeze within six months restores your mail and settings.
  • Password manager filled in the wrong thing: type the username and password by hand.

Logging in from Outlook, Apple Mail or Thunderbird

Email programs don't use your normal Yandex password. You either sign in through Yandex's own authorization window (OAuth), if the program offers it, or create an app password for it — and IMAP access has to be switched on in Yandex Mail's Email clients settings first. The servers and switches are in Yandex Mail server settings; error messages are covered in Yandex Mail troubleshooting.
