How to Reset Your Xfinity Email Password (Xfinity ID)
Your Comcast.net email password is your Xfinity ID password. Here are Xfinity’s three ways to reset or change it, and what to do afterwards.
Comcast.net email doesn’t have a separate password — you sign in with your Xfinity ID. Resetting your Xfinity ID password resets your email password too. Xfinity offers three ways to do it.
Forgot your password: reset without signing in
- Go to xfinity.com/password.
- Enter your Xfinity ID — or a verified mobile number or personal (non-Xfinity) email address on your account — and click Continue.
- Choose to get a reset code by text message or email.
- Enter the code and click Continue.
- Create and confirm your new password, then click Continue.
No code? Check you entered the right email or phone number, look in your Junk or Spam folder, and type the code itself — not the number that sent the text. If you’ve mistyped your Xfinity ID, no reset options appear; look it up at xfinity.com/username.
Know your password: change it online
- Sign in at customer.xfinity.com.
- Click the Account icon › Account and Identity.
- Under Your Information, select Xfinity ID and security.
- In Security, choose Change password and verify it’s you — with an Xfinity app notification or a code by email or text.
- Enter the new password twice and click Save.
Change it in the Xfinity app
Tap Account › Account Settings › Xfinity ID and security › Change Password. Verify it’s you, enter your current password and the new one twice, and tap Save.
Password rules
- 8 to 128 characters.
- At least one number and one special character.
- Not your name or username.
Xfinity also advises not reusing this password on other accounts.
After you reset
- Update every email app. If you read Comcast.net email in Outlook, Apple Mail, Gmail or another app, enter the new password there too — see Xfinity Email settings.
- Add a mobile number or personal email to your profile, so future resets are easy.
- Signed out elsewhere? Use the new password next time you sign in on those devices.
Not the main account holder? Managers, Members and Viewers without a mobile number or personal email on file can’t change their own password; the primary account holder has to do it for them.
Ready to sign in? See Xfinity Email login. And if anyone calls offering to “reset your Xfinity email” for you, hang up — Xfinity’s own help is at xfinity.com/support.
